UPDATES

4/2 at 12pm: Ted Talk Event (RSVP!!!)
There will be a talk discussion event this Thursday, April 2 at 12:00 pm in the Loch Raven Rooms of the University Union. Free pizza will be provided. We will be watching the talk, "What's so funny about mental illness" by Ruby Wax, participating in a group discussion, and engaging in an advocacy and awareness-raising activity.

We would like a final head count by this Wednesday, so please send RSVP's and any questions to Gabrielle Handwerk,ghandw1@students.towson.edu.


ELECTIONS FOR NEXT YEAR’S EXECUTIVE BOARD!
If you are interested in an executive board position at NAMI on Campus, you are in luck! Elections will be held the dates of 4/15 – 4/22. You can run for the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Program Coordinator, and Public Relations Coordinator. You must be a current or incoming graduate student at Towson University to run for one of the listed positions. Email towsonunami@gmail.com if you are interested in applying for a position! Please be prepared to speak with members at our next member meeting about your interest in the position (on 4/15 at 2pm in CLA 3216)

Upcoming Events

Bystander Intervention Workshop (Member Meeting) 3/26
At our next member meeting in CLA room 3216 on Wednesday 3/25 at 2pm, we will be having a Bystander Intervention workshop, facilitated by a speaker from the Counseling Center's Sexual Assault Peer Education team! As sexual assault is linked to Mental health & illness, this is a great way to learn about sexual assault on campus and what you can do to prevent and deal with issues related to sexual assault on campus.

DSM-LIVE EVENT 4/7
NAMI is partnering with the Counseling Center to host their upcoming event DSM-live! This will be an "around-the-world" interactive event with different disorders stationed in rooms around the Counseling Center. It will take place on Tuesday, April 7 at 6:30 pm.
The committee is in need of volunteers to help with giving tours, setting up/tearing down, tabling at the end of the tour, and manning different rooms. If you are interested in signing up for any of these tasks, please email Gabrielle Handwerk at ghandw1@students.towson.edu. Membership points will be given to volunteers.
Spring Ted Talk 4/2
On Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 12pm - 1:30 in Loch Raven (University Union), NAMI on Campus will be hosting a Spring Ted Talk Program related to mental illness! This will be a great opportunity to learn more about mental illness while engaging in meaningful discussion about the TED Talk afterwards. Food will be served at the event!
